They will then provide us with your individual sensitivies so that the least offensive materials can be chosen and used for your dental treatment.
Q. Are you looking for an accurate Diagnosis?
A. At the Estrabillo Dental Group, we would like to introduce you to our NewTom 3-D Cone Beam Volumetric Tomography Scan technology that uses precise one-to one scale measurements that allow precise measurements, to the dental industry this represents a quantum leap in diagnostic and treatment planning capabilities over conventional two-dimensional imaging. A single NewTom 3D scan can be viewed as it captures a complete dento-maxillo-facial record in the form of a database of digital image information from which multiple types of 3D images, including primary reconstruction images in multiple planes, can be created using the system software. Because it provides precise 1:1 scale imaging, NewTom technology eliminates the magnification errors of conventional cephalometric imaging technology. In fact, this new imaging technology is so powerful that it is rapidly becoming the standard of care, especially for placement of implants, orthodontic treatment and for various oral/maxillo-facial treatments.
Q. Are you Suffering TMJ Pain/Headaches?
A. Dr. Estrabillo uses the only system available to measure dental occlusal forces and quantify how well-balanced a patient's occlusion or bite is. The Tekscan is used in evaluating occlusal forces and it is as simple as having a patient bite down on our ultra-thin sensor while the computer analyzes and displays the data.
TMJ/TMD
The “Temporomandibular Joint,” more commonly referred to as the “jaw joint,” assists in the basic opening and closing movements of the jaw. Unfortunately, this joint is a common area for recurring pain. Although conventional wisdom suggests that “popping” sounds in the jaw indicates a TMJ dysfunction, this is not always true. Many times, your jaw is functioning properly even if a “popping” sound is present when chewing or talking.
We offer a TMJ exam that evaluates the joint tissue in the “hinge” of the jaw. Possible problems include swelling, deterioration of the joint tissue or damaged joint tissue (which cushions the jaw bones during the opening and closing movement of the mouth). Common pain relievers and cold compresses can provide temporary relief for most cases of TMJ.
For more serious cases of TMJ, we will recommend alternate treatments. Often, we will suggest using a mouth guard to relieve teeth grinding. In some cases, we will instruct you to use orthodontic appliances or retainers to alleviate discomfort or redirect positioning of the TMJ joint. For the most severe cases of TMJ, we may recommend certain invasive procedures.
Q. How often should I see a dentist?
A. Maintaining a regular dental appointment scheduled with your dental professional isn't just good for your teeth but it is extremely important for your overall health and well being. It is recommended that patients visit our office at least twice each year in order to ensure optimal oral health and in order to avoid costly and serious future problems. In some cases it may be recommended to have 3 or 4 visits per year to treat conditions that may require more attention. At a regular cleaning we also examine the complete mouth for potential problems like oral cancer and periodontal (gum) disease, tooth decay, dry mouth, these are just a few of many oral health problems that could occur and have serious consequences if not detected.
Q. What should I expect during my appointment?
A. One of our staff members will compile your medical and dental history during your first visit. We will then examine your teeth and gums, screen you for oral cancer, take prescribed X-rays of your teeth as needed and complete a TMJ (temporomandibular or jaw joint) exam. After we review your dental profile, we will discuss a diagnosis with you. If treatment such as a root canal (endodontics), braces (orthodontics) or oral surgery is needed, we can schedule an appointment to treat you in our office. We will discuss your options for treatment and fee payment and help you determine the best plan to fit your needs.
During regular follow-up visits, we will examine your teeth and gums, screen you for oral cancer, clean your teeth and make plans for treatment, as needed. We will discuss any pain or problems you may be experiencing and answer any questions you may have.

Q. Can the dentist whiten my teeth?
A. There are several methods available for bleaching the teeth: in office, overnight or daily. Brite Smile bleaching is done in our office. One session generally lasts one and a half to two hours, and you can read or relax during the treatment. For overnight bleaching, we take an impression of your teeth and create a whitening tray that fits your bite. Each day you fill the whitening tray with a small amount of bleaching gel and wear it overnight or for a few hours during the day. The overnight bleaching process takes approximately two weeks.
Other over-the-counter daily bleaching products are available, but it is important to use any bleaching product only under the supervision of a dentist. To achieve the whitening results you desire, it is recommended that you seek the professional advice of a dentist, including examination and diagnosis of the cause of tooth discoloration, before you begin any bleaching program.
Q. What if I have a gap in my teeth, a chipped tooth or teeth that do not respond to normal bleaching methods?
A. Porcelain veneers are designed to look like your natural teeth and are individually and permanently attached to the fronts of your existing teeth. Bonding utilizes a composite material made of plastic to fill in areas of your teeth and correct chipping and shape problems. Both porcelain veneers and bonding are color-matched to the rest of your teeth.
